Don't forget our Northwest Section awards!
October 15, 2022
Every year the Northwest Section Governor honors a Ninety-Nine of the section who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in aviation, acknowledging accomplishments in areas outside of our organization as well. Nominations for the Governor's Award are received from the nominee’s chapter or another Ninety-Nine who has personal knowledge of her achievements. Send nominations to the Section Governor, Stacey Budell, who makes the final selection. In addition we have four other awards that have been on pause recently, but we very much want to revive them.
Behind the Clouds Award
The success of our chapters depends upon the hardworking individuals who put in time and energy and are always there to help. This award is to honor someone who has not had prior recognition for her efforts. It may be given to a chapter officer or general member.
Aviation and Space Education Award
In keeping with the educational mission of The Ninety-Nines, this award is given to the chapter that has made the most contributions to Aerospace Education in a given year. The chapter chair or chapter aviation and space education chair will send the record of chapter activities to the Section Awards Chair.
Spinning Prop Award
This award is to encourage us to fly. It is given to the person who has logged the most time in a year from July 1 to June 30 in a noncommercial status. Individuals receiving instruction training may count those hours toward the award. Hours flown will be verified by nominees submitting logbook entries to the Section Awards Chair. Members are encouraged to submit logged hours of 25 or more. Include a photocopy of the first and last logged pages during the period, with a list including each page total on the pages in between the first and last pages. The one with the most hours flown will receive the award, and all others will be recognized in hourly tiers of 25-49, 50-74, etc.
Hot Pavement Award
Airmarking has been an important and fun tradition of The Ninety-Nines. This award honors those chapters that have been active in painting airport names and compass roses. The picture above is of Columbia Cascade chapter members in 2020. Submit all airmarking reports to the Awards Chair.
This year nominations are due by July 15, 2023. Please send your nominations to the Section Awards Chair, director Bonnie Molitor, who makes the final selections. You can find her and Stacey's contact information on this website's Section Officers page when you are logged in as a member, or in the directory at the international 99s website, www.ninety-nines.org.
